A puppy's first grooming should be short and positive

A good start makes future grooming easier

When a puppy learns early that grooming is calm and predictable, adult grooming becomes much more pleasant.

Before the visit

• Practise short touches around paws, ears and tail at home.
• Make transport and arrival as calm as possible.
• Avoid booking the first visit on a day when the puppy is already overtired.

When to bring a puppy for the first time

The best time for a first visit is after the vaccination course, at around 3–5 months old. The earlier a puppy gets used to washing, the dryer and brushing, the easier and calmer every future groom will be.

The first visit is practice, not a beauty contest

We only do as much as the puppy calmly accepts: a wash, drying, light tidying and nails. We praise, reward and end on a positive note — so the salon becomes a good memory.
